A True New Yorker's Point of View

I have watched and read many tributes to September 11th today. But one in particular took me right there.... to New York City.... today... and then.... Please take a few minutes to check the moving tribute put together by the King Of New York Hacks-- He's a true New Yorker.

It is stunning.

We'll all remember where we were on that appalling day.

There are tributes on the TV over here in England and it just so heartbreaking to watch. I have shed many a tear.

But the New Yorkers and America have a fighting spirit that no evil can destroy.

Love to you all

Thank you, Joanna, it was a wonderful post!

Just went there. It really was hard for me because of growing up in the area. When I was a kid, my dad took us in to the city to see the towers being built. :(

Just back from visiting the King of NY... very touching tribute. Well done! thanks for pointing me in his direction. xo

Certainly a day beyond sad. The King's photos and commentary were very touching. What angers me most about the whole thing (besides the innocent victims) is how many people still don't know what really happened there. I was so proud of King for calling them murderers. I think he knows.

That day was such a terrible tragedy. Each time I saw replayed footage of the planes hitting the towers and then seeing them collapse, my jaw dropped in disbelief that this had happened. Knowing that innocent lives were in those aeroplanes and buildings and beyond; the brave firefighters and others who ran up the stairs to save others. Brave people who put their own lives at risk and lost them. People hanging out of those high buildings unable to be saved and many jumping rather than be burned alive. Horrific, absolutely horrific.

The tributes leave me speechless. I watched the Youtube video over at King of New York and my blood ran cold. It's one of those things I don't want to shake. I never want to become complacent about it. Someone sent me a power point picture show of declassified photos taken during that morning and they were horrific. Absolutely horrific.

I went over to More.com and loved your piece. I completely identified with it. I was just telling my friend the other day that, after a world-wide support group for people caring for elderly parents, we need a world-wide support group called, "We're Next." :)

Thanks for posting the link.

There were so many stories on TV yesterday and it brought back a lot of memories, didn't it?

A day I will never forget.

It's sad, my husband is a HS teacher and he was saying his freshman were 5 when 9/11 happened so it really means nothing to them.
