The skies opened up again Saturday and poured-- big time. But days earlier, the skies were a gorgeous blue, storm clouds were rolling in, and the moon was high over downtown Los Angeles.

That white dot isn't schmootz on your computer screen, it's the moon.
This picture was taken from our back yard and I caught it just in time. Another minute later, the moon was lost in cloud-cover and the skies were gray. Sunshine has been peaking out every now and then but no rainbows in sight this time.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shot! Glad you caught it before the gray came.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
No rain here, but we did go from a high of 30 to a high of 75 in less than a week, though that’s common for Louisiana weather.
ReplyDeleteThe view from your back yard is truly beautiful. I would have to put a sleeping bag out there and sleep under the stars so I could wake up a few times to check the view.
ReplyDeletegreat shot...are you sure that is not a baseball flying toward you...smiles.
ReplyDeleteJoanna,
ReplyDeleteI love to watch the sky, watch how it changes, and sometimes feel the change happening in myself.
It's a fairly simple way to sit amazed at how grand and how small a moment can be.
I love seeing the moon out during the day. Seems like a little bonus. Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteGreat timing, Joanna, and a great moon shot. I've loved looking at the moon during night time dog walks this week.

Ah, what a great capture! Oooh, I am so tired of all our stormy weather, roll on Summer! What a lovely yard you have (sigh)..
ReplyDeleteIt's been terribly dry around my neck of the woods and I'm praying that the predicted rain for tonight will make it to the ground... and lots of it!
ReplyDeleteJJ - it's been almost 8 months since I've stopped by and wanted to shout a big 'hello' to you. Apologies that I haven't been back sooner but I guess coming back to the real world after 3 months on the road completely knocked the wind out of me. I will now pull up a chair and be a regular at your story tellings =)
ReplyDeleteGREAT photo BTW!!! Simple yet fun =) Tx
Gorgeous picture! I wish our blue skies would come back. Just as soon as the snow melted we were hit with a winter storm. I'm so tired of snow!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the color in that sky!
ReplyDeleteI love that shot; the perspective is very unique, and of course the sky is lovely :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sunshiny cloudy reflection you captured girl. 'Just beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless ya and have a marvelous Monday!!!
I love CA......home of my youth! My husband just returned home after working there for 2 weeks. Wish I could have gone with him.
ReplyDeleteI love to gaze at the full moon, but unfortunately I can't from my house. I have to go outside and it's too damned cold at night around here to do that. if only my husband would cut that damned Laurel hedge I could see it from my chair inside. Oh well.I'll wait for Summer and catch three or four of them then.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing shot. I miss Cali sky!
ReplyDelete:-)

I just found out the word for that stuff that looks like snow, but isn't, is called graupel. I live in San Bernardino where they was a chance of snow but we got graupel instead. Ha Ha.
