Vacation

It was actually warm today-- in Southern California-- Really, truly, warm with the sun coming out in the morning and lasting all glorious day long. Ahhh, summer is finally here... I hope, I hope. And it's about time.

We've had just 14 days over 80 degrees so far this summer and the hit and miss of sunshine has made for a lackluster time. But I'm pretty sure the weatherman is right and we're going to start heating up for summer fun!

School doesn't start until September 13th around here so we'll actually get to use the repaired pool and deck (it's been too cold to swim!) before for it's time to hit the school car pool lane and nightly homework routine again.

So I'm taking a few weeks off to grab a little summer, catch up on some much needed rest, and spend a little extra time with my sweet hubby-- including a week in New York City for our 17th anniversary.

I'll be making the rounds to read blogs when I can but I won't be posting much until September 1st-- Or at least that's the plan for the moment. You never know, I might miss you too much and be back sooner.

Regardless, happy rest of August everyone. I hope you enjoy every minute.

Cheers,
Joanna

  7. I'll trade my weather for yours! We've had almost two months of 100 degree (or almost), with no end in sight. If I had your gorgeous pool, I'd be in it every day!

Have a happy vacation and blog break, but...I know how blog breaks go - you say you'll do it, then you end up sneaking a peak at one or two and before you know it, you're back in!

  28. Bwahahaha, You Californians are weak. We start swimming in May when it's barely 80 and continue to do so until we get our first frost. But I live in Missouri where it gets to about 14 degrees Fahrenheit in November and doesn't warm up until April. (So I exaggerate)

  29. Have a wonderful break girl. I read where the temps have been very low in southern CA this year. We're experiencing our third week of temps above 100 and my pool isn't even comfortable. The grass is brown and the critters are showin' major heat stress. Whew-eeee!

Enjoy your summer break and we'll look forward to your return.

    God bless ya sweetie!!!

Embassy Hotel looks like a fab place to stay.. I think
the rates are comparable for Santa Monica and lots
less than some (The Viceroy!!) I’m sure the tenants
are on rent control. Lucky sods...Enjoy your hols....Cynthia

  45. We've had a fair amount of 90F plus weather lately. And we get humid heat out where I live.

I'm used to it, having lived here most of my life. But it's caught the wife off-guard.

  46. We've been in the mid to high '90's for quite a while. Today the heat index was 105!
