Give, Get & Pop!

Two cool things are happening in blogland and I thought you might be interested.

First, the awesome ByJane at Midlife Bloggers is having a giveaway for a gorgeous pair of "Jingle Dangle" earrings. I got a kick out of her simple entry requirements. Here's the scoop to win these babies:
Describe your lonely earlobes. Shout out for the Jingle Dangles in any way you like. Each comment will be a ticket in the MidLifeBloggers Jingle Dangle Earring Sweepstakes. If you Tweet about it, you’ll double your chances of winning (send me the link).

While you're there, take a look around Midlife Bloggers. It's one of my "must read" blogs.

And Snuggie Queen Kristina P. of Pulsipher Predilections has organized a fundraising drive to collect new Snuggies for needy Senior Citizens during the month of March. It never dawned on me how great this funky product would be for wheelchair bound Seniors, so I packed up a Snuggie and mailed it off to the Utah State Veteran's Nursing Home. I hope you'll consider sending one too.

Click HERE to get all the details on how you can participate. Or click her logo in my top right corner.

And last, a fast update on my sinking pool and deck saga.... Due to all the rain we've had in Southern California lately, there's serious concern about draining the pool. Apparently the water table might have risen and, gawd forbid, the pool could pop out during the draining.

Seriously. All I can do is laugh.... and wait. That's life in paradise.

Do you usually enter sweepstakes? (I do!)

  1. Those earrings are gorgeous! And Snuggies are perfect for people in wheelchairs! Why didn't I ever notice that before??

Speaking of giveaways, I hope you'll stop by and enter mine!

Oh, the pool! I feel so bad that you're saga never seems to end. I hope the rain stops and you can get it taken care of and off your mind!

  5. Hope the pool stays in place. I can just imagine the poor bug that's chilling out only to discover that he's being flown out of the country via a swimming pool. Not a good way to travel! :)

    Great idea for the snuggies!!

  6. How sweet! You're right -- a sniggy would be a great gift for people in wheelchairs especially. Great idea.

Your poor pool, it doesn't to add to it's saga.

  10. Those are pretty earrings!! Sparkly!

And how neat, I never thought of how the snuggies could help someone in a wheelchair. Wow...

Popping pools.. hmmm.. interesting thought. We live below sea level and my parents have a pool in ground. It would be a strange sight indeed!

  11. Fun post. I'd never thought about the wide range of uses for the Snuggies, just perfect.

I love MidLife Bloggers, so will pop over to look at the earrings. I've never contemplated my earlobes... navel yes!

  12. It depends on what the item is, and how simple or difficult it is to enter.

You haven't talked about your yard in a while. Still sinking eh? One of these years it will be resolved.

  13. Great suggestion about the Snuggies. I can get a batch at the Walgreen's just a few blocks away. I love Walgreen's. I'm glad you can still laugh about your pool...I
    guess you have to laugh.

  14. I feel so bad about your pool. I know I would be heartbroken. Hope you get the problem solved soon.

  15. I think I could have invented the snuggly. And in better colors.

Hope you post pics of the pool saga. Sending wishes it works out not as bad as it appears.

  19. Joanna, I don't want to sound like the voice of doom, but my dear 88 year old aunt (tomorrow) got a Snuggie for Christmas and can't make heads or tails of it. They're awesome for the elderly who still have their faculties, but for those toying with dementia and Alzheimer's... not so much.

Still, a very worthy cause and I applaud you for showcasing it. Thank you.

  20. Joanna, this is a wonderful idea. Who would have thought. Right now I could use one. LOL... I can't wait till we hit the heatwave this week 40. xo

  21. Pool saga - did you unpack that car?
you and yours should get back in the car and head for the hills (dry land) enjoy some nature and think about the pool when you get back. Too cold to swim in it now anyway.
(but I don't have a pool and still have snow on the lawn so be careful about free advice)

  22. The snuggies are a great idea for the elderly. Good on you.

As for the pool, sometimes it never rains but pours. Fingers crossed for you.

  23. ooooh a pop up pool! darling how avante garde! great idea about the snuggies...they'd be perfect. and mid life bloggers...lordy think i better head over there now...my love to you honey....

  24. I guess what they are saying is that the ground water pressure on the outside of the pool could implode the pool if you take the water outside of the pool itself because you will be unbalancing the existing pressures? I deal with ground water a lot!

My ears are ugly lol! I did have an earring years ago!

  25. Thanks for all the wonderful snuggie info! Great idea!!!

So you have a portable pool? A pop out pool?? SCARY!!

  26. My earlobes are definitely pining... Hope your pool stays in place. Try telling it: SIT very firmly... ;-)

  27. One thing you can probably be sure of in California is that the water table will soon start to recede to normal levels as the sun takes over from the rain. Hang in there - this will all be a distant memory by the summer when you are sipping your Pimms on the flower filled terrace. :)

  28. I love it :) I'd make you laugh too if I told you my troubles in paradise :))

  29. Very good recommendations, Joanna. You are right the earrings rock! And the seniors rock too and I hope they get lots of Snuggies!

  30. What a fun name! "Snuggies for Seniors." That is cute.
Your swimming pool saga is one even away from becoming a TV soap opera.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Your "Snuggies for Seniors" took me aback for a moment...in the 70's, my kids referred to what is currently called a "wedgie" as a snuggie. It wouldn't be good to promote those snuggies for oldsters!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh , I totally love this idea for the snuggies.
I am going to look into somewhere here to do this.
    Thank you.

  33. I'm glad you're laughing about the pool.
I'm laughing about the 'snuggies'... what are they?

be well and I hear that laughing keeps you young :)

    Snuggies away!

  35. I have a slanket (like a snuggie only a bit longer) and I think everyone in the world needs one... okay, maybe just the people with Winters. A mighty cause!

P.S. Thanks so much for popping by my blog and saying nice things :)

  36. The little lady in the Snuggie is so darn cute! I still can't believe your pool problem. It's crazy!
