For a pleasant afternoon walk, Montana Avenue in Santa Monica California between about 17th and 10th Streets is filled with wonderful restaurants, fancy boutiques and clothing stores, antique and designer shops and a lot of interesting signage. Take this for example...
There were no firetrucks in sight but Giselle was having a hot sale...
Entertainment is always available too...
Shop owners maximize their advertising on cute cars...
I figure the Dads are hanging out here while the wife and kids are shopping...
And this sign was on the side of a plumber's van. I wonder if he works Saturdays.
How's your Sunday?
Welcome to The Fifty Factor - Joanna Jenkins
I love finding interesting signs, and fonts, these are great. giselle has a classic fifties look.

ReplyDeleteI love the signs you captured Joanna! Such fun! Especially the Father's Office : ) What a clever title for a bar!
ReplyDeleteAnother fun tour, Joanna. Flawless skin and clean drains....with a little entertainment along the way. Can't beat that.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, you click your magic camera and show some interesting and humorous photos. I'm like you, looking for the different signs and seeing them through my artsy/nutsy eyes. Fun. Thanks for sharing your Sunday stroll through Santa Monica.
ReplyDeleteWe just found a great little place to stroll yesterday, too! But Bob Newhart's not coming to Davidson anytime soon. That Father's Office sign is fantastic; you don't see a whole lot of those around anymore.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have a flawless conscience than flawless skin, thank you very much. Hmph.
Oh honey, these are wonderful! Now I want to go see Cold Turkey, what a funny movie.
ReplyDeleteThe weather's been such total crap here lately, but it's warming up now. Maybe I can get out with the camera and do a little neighborhood thing too.
I love Santa Monica went there several years ago and fell in love with every corner. We saw so many stars it was a joke! hAVE A WONDERFUL Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMy favorites: Rabbi Rooter and Father's Office!
ReplyDeleteHow neat! This is my first time partaking in SIMC, and I'm loving all the pictures! I've never been out West, but it is sure on my Bucket List!!

ReplyDeleteThose are some funny ads- but I guess that's the point, right? Great pics!
ReplyDeleteI think I need to pay more attention to my city!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the West Coast. Hopefully next year!
ReplyDeleteYour pics are great. I never seem to have my camera on me when I see funny stuff like that...guess I need to change that!
You are a bonafide blogger through and through to take note of these signs. I wonder if the plumbing service is kosher.
ReplyDeleteGreat signs, love the pictures you take and the things you find. I've never been to Santa Monica. Looks like a fun town to visit.
ReplyDeleteLove the signs!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Rabbi Rooter isn't a dentist?! Lovely walk in your neighbourhood...
ReplyDeleteLoved the idea of posting neighborhood signs. Great post!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! I am busy in my workshop getting things made for the craft show in two weeks. Making progress. Still need to iron clothes for the week, do yoga and walk on the treadmill. I'm multi tasking right now....eating my salad and reading blogs. :)
ReplyDeletewhat a fun bunch of things you saw on your stroll...i'm usually looking for bugs or flowers...or some epic scenery shot, i don't have time to read the signs. oh well...i'm trying to come to terms with not being able to do everything i want, but it's just not happening.
ReplyDeletedid you see that movie about the fire sale...i forgot the name of it...but i always do!
I think my husband would really enjoy Father's Office.
ReplyDeleteLove the father's office! Great pics x

ReplyDeletePlease have a wonderful start into the new week.
Love the signs. We had a wonderful Sunday thanks. I made veggie baked beans (first time I ever cooked with molasses) and fruit salad and about 30 family members enjoyed an exceptionally beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
SLC
What a fun collection of signs.. but that Rabbi Rooter... oy! lol
ReplyDeleteThe movie Cold Turkey is fun to watch and I have to admit, I saw Bob Newhart about 5 or 6 years ago and was pleasantly surprised at how much I laughed.
ReplyDeleteHe puts on a good stand up and really hasn't aged much (maybe because he looked old when he was on tv).
Father's Office. Hee...
ReplyDeleteI love ridiculous signs like that - never fail to make me smile! Silly people :)
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday was nice...spent way too much money booking hostels and flights etc (only 6 days before I leave!!) whilst watching Baywatch :D haha Love it!
