Sundays In My City #31 - Puppy Love

Unknown Mami hosts a great Sunday theme inviting YOU to get out and take pictures of your city and/or Sunday to share with the rest of blogland. Click HERE to see Unknown Mami's Sunday in her City today.

For years I've been saying I can never get a dog or cat. My reason is simple-- I know, without a doubt, I'd become the crazy dog or cat lady in a New York second. You know what I'm talking about-- One of those peeps who talks baby talk to their pooch or carries their cat in a Louis Vuitton bag. Yup, I would so go there.

Not having a pet never bothered me-- That is until I met this little guy last week....

Nine month old Noah belongs to my folks in Ohio. It was all I could do not to smuggle him out of their house and onto the plane with me back to Los Angeles.

He's trained beautifully and full of love and sweetness and I came this close to dog-napping him.

The good news is, I'm heading back to Ohio in ten days for my sweet niece's baby shower-- So I can rethink my doggie desire to see if I've come to my senses. Otherwise, my "no pup pledge" might be going by the wayside.

Uh-oh.

How's your Sunday?

  1. I think he was on to you...dognapper!
I was never a dog person but now my Sophie is baby, she is too heavy for a LV bag but not a doggie stroller! Have a wonderful Sunday!

  3. Awwwwwwww... he has just the sweetest wee face! I would want to dog-nap him too.

  4. Oh, this sweet little fella' could melt a heart of stone! Isn't he adorable? I admit I am besotted with my pit pony of a dog, but because he is so huge, he has to be well trained, for example, if he ever jumped up on anyone, he would send them flying into next week. I don't hold much truck for some the crazy-ladies pets I meet out on walks - thankfully little Noah is not only gorgeous to look at, but he also sounds a delight to be around, he has a great set of owners who have trained him well! But beware, you get yourself a poochie, and your heart will never be your own again (grin)!

  5. Awww - he is really cute and has such a lovable face! I'll be watching to see what happens in the future!

  6. You'll wince while reading this, but it's true: two dogs will be happier and easier to train than one dog. The alpha will identify his or herself and help to train the beta.

    They're pack animals....

And I say this out of love. ;)

  12. Noah looks like such a sweetie :)

  13. We can't have dogs or cats because I am seriously allergic. However, last week, a dog from nearby got loose and somehow ended up in our (fenced) back yard. She was shivering and whining and looked so scared and lost and lonely that I almost went outside to calm her (but didn't...allergies...) Her owners eventually walked far enough down the street to find her. But for a second I was considering stronger allergy meds! :)

  14. We are relatively new dog owners after not having one for several years. We have had Dodger for 5 mos. He has totally taken us over, we've spent a fortune, we have become "those people" and it is all wonderfully, crazy good. I fully recommend it.

  15. He is pretty cute! Just ask yourself if you want the mandatory walks, the flea collars, the boarding when you travel, the picking up dog poop, etc., etc.
Can you tell where I stand on the subject. I have had pets in the past and won't go there again.
Good luck with whatever you decide. I'll still love you if you become the crazy dog lady.

  16. Dogs quickly win your heart! How could you NOT love a face like that? Go for it, Joanna!

  17. I can see you are thinking it might be ok to have a new friend... paws crossed that you will adopt..... the best thing I ever did. All my dogs have been rescues or .... dogs with life experience. You will make even more friends on your walkies! xoxoxo

  18. He is ADORABLE! I can totally see why you would want to kidnap him : ) or dog nap! What a sweetie! I am so glad you can go see him again soon! I prayed for your safe journey!

  19. He IS a cutie! Personally, I think dogs are more trouble than they're worth (says the woman who had to wash diarrhea off her golden retriever's butt this morning, BLECK!)

  20. I know what you mean. Sometimes it is so difficult to restrain the pet urge. I had a sweet dog when I met hubby. I had the dog two years at that time. Hubby loved the dog too. But when we started living together hubby's asthma became a major problem and one night he ended up in ER. We needed to find a home for our dog. The dog has been with a nice family and happy so I am glad for that. But sometimes.....

  22. Aw, he is truly cute.;) Look at those eyes.;)
    Have a lovely Sunday,
    xo

  23. I say EMBRACE the crazy dog lady. Like you said, you want one that is about 9 months old and well trained, a real sweetie pie. What if you don't? Twenty years go by and you look back on this time and wonder why the hell you didn't get yourself a mutt. You literally have nothing to lose. :D

    Cheers,

    SLC

  24. Aaww wat a cutie!! Im such an animal lover..I used to bring home strays all the time and feed them. Whe we finally buy our own place in the next few years I plan to get dogs, cats, cows, chickens, watever I can get away with:)

    ReplyDelete
  25. He looks serious in the pictures.

I'm lucky to have "grand" dogs. I can visit and walk my kids' dogs without the long term maintenance. It's a good setup.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Uh oh! Those eyes can get you every time, can´t they? :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Since I just got a puppy two weeks ago I guess you know what side I am going to fall on - he is an adorable Pug named Senor Pablo Gomez. So happy to have a dog again!

    ReplyDelete
  28. With a face like that cute one, I don't blame you for not being able to resist.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I feel that way about my brother's dog - and I am not even a dog person!
Have you done much pooping and scooping? That may help cure you!

    ReplyDelete
  30. That is one adorable little face! I haven't wanted another dog since ours died 5 years ago, but that little cutie could make me change my mind!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. awww, he is so cute, he is saying "take me home!" :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. get the pup.....get the pup......

    ReplyDelete
  33. That face! How can you say no to that face? So sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cute he may be, but be warned, he is expensive

    ReplyDelete
  35. Awwww! He is just too cute! I can understand why a person would have a no puppy pledge, I just don't know that I could commit to a pledge like that. This guy is so cute and cuddly, I would have probably been stopped by airport security for dog-napping, he he! So glad to have you stop by today! :-D

    ReplyDelete
  36. A day without dog drool dripping from the ceiling is like a day without sunshine to me.....no matter how much work they are, or how much they cost, they are so worth it! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  37. What a cutie pie!

I'd want to dog nap him too! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ok. that is one cute dog. I can see why he on your heart. You know there is a lot of sweeties out there waiting to be adopted. That's how we got Libby and she has really stolen our hearts and fits in so nice with our family.

    ReplyDelete
  39. So cute and I can understand why you would want one. As for me once this Fancie cat is gone...then I am done taking care of any pets. I like to love them and leave them!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh yeah, I see a pup in your future. No doubt about it. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Awww he's so adorable! I would want to dog nap him too!

    ReplyDelete
  42. ooh, he's cute...
I want to help you: are you ready to have a baby for 10, 15 or even more years?
Dogs are like babies, they need you all their lives - but human babies grow up! :)

    Happy SIMC greetings from Casablanca!

  47. Oh my goodness, what a positively human expression that dog has! He looks like he has an ancient looking out of those eyes, doesn't he?

I just adopted a dog myself, a week or so back.

You know, it is something to think through very carefully, isn't it? There's nothing wrong with liking to be the friendly stranger, dog Aunt sort of person. Enjoying other people's pets and not having to scoop poop of any kind.

However, if you are feeling a yen, don't try too hard to resist it. Perhaps there's a dog in the world who needs you, and that's what you're feeling.

If not that's fine, too :-)

One of the coolest things in life is that we all have our own best path to walk, and we get to determine it for ourselves, with our choices.

  48. He is so cute!!!! Hope you enjoy your visit to Ohio!! It's going to be nice here for a while. :) Thanks for stopping by on Sunday!

  49. It takes a special creature to convert people like us!

    ReplyDelete
  50. What a cute dog! My mom used to have a teacup yorkshire terrier. The tiny little thing was (in her prime) 6 pounds and was considered overweight.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think that adorable face got you hook, line and sinker. It won't be long before you post a Sunday pic of you and your dog :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh those sweet puppy eyes! I can see how ya fell in love with him. This Sunday was the first Sunday in a long time we did not have a to-do list after church. We snuggled down to read the Sunday paper and watch Nascar when the phone rang. We had a field full of heifers who decided to break out and run free. Not the Sunday we had planned.

    Have a wonderfully blessed week!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I totally understand. When I met my mother's dog, I fell in love and I look forward to visiting the dog as much as I do the rest of the family. I tell the dog, I'm her big sister.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Don't do it!! I have a bird I'll send you instead...

    ReplyDelete
  55. What a sweet dog.

I still don't want one though. Cleaning up poo is not my idea of fun. And I'd be stuck walking the dog, I imagine. :/

    ReplyDelete
  56. Dogs are good for your health! They make you smile and exercise... That pup is a real cutie.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I can think of worse things than a puppy dog to brighten your days. As an animal lover myself, I can't imagine living without my pets. They are so entertaining and sweet. And they round out the family beautifully.

I say go for it, Joanna!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Now that we mostly decided for you that it's a done deal,
    what breed would you consider?
We have a Havanese. That I talk to and can't imagine my life without.
He has brought us immeasurable happiness, and I love watching people love him. Those are good good moments in life .

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oh that face.. he could be part lamb - part human. :)

I give it three months tops.. you'll be announcing a pet adoption of some wonderful critter in need.

    ReplyDelete
  60. So, what's wrong with talking baby-talk to your pets? That's totally between the two of you. If I want to call my cat Tweedy, "Tweetness" that is our thing!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Well ... you know what they say about never saying never. The lady across the road makes hysterical sounds to her pet when she returns home. She sounds like a cat, a woman who has lost her mind.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I never thought I was an animal lover, until 5 years ago when I got my cat, Cameron, then 2 months later, Mason. Then 2 years ago, I got tricked into adopting an abandoned kitty who ran away 7 months later. Then my son brought his cat to live with me (and dammit! He's moving home too!) So now I have 3 cats!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Get a dog!

Loving it too much is not a bad thing! Although I do object to the purse thing.

I would have one in a heartbeat but my roommates are allergic and my landlord objects.

But I long for a fluffy furball who will love me when I haven't showered in days and won't judge me when I have two dinners in one night.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Oh I agree, he has one of those faces that you just could not resist. I would get one too but I am jsut away from home too much. One day when life settles down I will get one and a vegetable garden too. I hope they are not mutually exclusive.
