To say I was disappointed when our local Barnes and Noble bookstore closed was an understatement because the next closest store is 30 minutes in miserable Los Angeles traffic away.
I'm a big bookstore browser and could easily spend an hour or more each visit looking at various books for one that catches my eye... The one that says "pick me up"... The one that's not necessarily on my radar or the bestseller's list... The one that has the right size type, page cut and cover art that appeals to my senses and will entice me to actually read it from cover to cover.
Sure, I'm a Kindle girl, but I can't completely leave my beloved "real" books behind because I enjoy passing a good read on to my friends and family.

Joanna! glad u r back.. btw did u see the article in L.A. Times about Barnes taking their e-reader to the UK? its not doing well here cuz of competition and they figure it will do better in Europe? (don't think so). I still love books too...I know I will eventually get an e-reader but for now I have 12 books lined up.
Our B&N is hurting as well. I feel bad for them and for the loss of actual books. But, I rejoice at all the trees that are saved by Nooks and Kindles. I sold a bunch of books to Half Price Books a while back and the majority of them were just going to recycling, and that saves trees, as well!

Thanks, Joanna! It sounds like a fascinating book with invaluable life lessons from an author who has such credibility because of his work and because of his impending death. We're all living on limited time and need to take in the wisdom of his words and thoughts. I was very moved by the video.

I think I might need to get a copy for our trip to Spokane on the 16 when I have my next bladder cancer check up and schedule surgery for tumor removal. I am always working on being positive and upbeat, it's the key to beating this I am sure!

We lost our favorite Borders, as did so many readers, last year. If B&N goes, I will be very depressed. I make more purchases when I SEE and hold the books in my hand. Amazon is fine and dandy, but I think we lose our souls when we lose 3-D bookstores.
This man inspires me. I posted his story and your giveaway today. His goodness, his zest, also inspired me to fundraise for water.org, and I'll be posting about that on Sunday. That's an inspiring story as well, getting clean water to villages and people who have to walk hours to collect safe, clean drinking water. We are so lucky and there are many who are not.
This sounds like the perfect book for me! I vowed a few months ago to start being more grateful and have been doing 5 things I am grateful for off and on in morning for the last 2 months. The only book I asked for for Christmas was about how to be Grateful and remember all that God has given me in spite of life's circumstances! Bring it on! Hope I win! :)

I am so like you, My Friend! I love going to the bookstore and here in Salem there aren't any bookstores or at least not like Powell's in Portland. So, I go to the library instead and breathe in the books. There's just something about the smell of a good book. Kindle just can't replicate that! I would love to win the book and if I don't then, I'll have to see if I can get it from Amazon. In the meantime, count me in!!
