New Year's day-- Did you enjoy yours?
Here in Southern California, the weather gods cut us a break, dried up the record breaking rains, blew around a bunch of wildly strong winds, coaxed the sun to shine, and presented us with one of these days....
The view from our back yard.
....Saturday was a day that screamed "Gorgeous!" with clear skies as far as the eye could see-- An ideal day for the televised Pasadena Rose Parade to be seen cross country by snowbirds freezing in the Midwest and East Coast-- A picture perfect day so inviting that the Chamber of Commerce was proud and real estate agents started rolling out the red carpet for everyone who saw our snow-capped mountains and lush greenery on TV and longed to enjoy its beauty in person. Yep, we had one of those New Year's days and it was glorious.
Happy New Year and a million thanks to all my blog friends far and wide. You continuously inspire me.
May your 2011 be glorious too!

ReplyDeleteHi Joanna,
ReplyDeleteHow dare you show a glorious day like that when I look out of the window at what I call a 'dirty underpants day',i.e. gloomy and dismal and damp.
Thank you for coming over to my blog and commenting,
I really like what I found here too.
btw. I do hope you have got over the fiftyphobia, just wait for the sixtysorrow!
I forgot to say Happy New Year, forgetfulness comes with old age. Something else to look forward to!

That is how I see California.
Pure and clean and bright.
Especially LA!
Can't wait to see it again!
That is a gorgeous view! Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeleteWow what an amazing view to wake up to! I love chamber of commerce days! We had 3 days of rain and 50 degrees no snow left in our yard, today bitter ass cold and snow this afternoon! Crazy Mother nature! Have a wonderful Sunday!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Joanna! And yes, I did watch the Rose Bowl Parade and think about how I wanted to go to it some year.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!

ReplyDeleteWe had unusually warm weather over the past few days, but it wasn't anywhere near as gorgeous as what you had! The pictures from your yard always make me want to pack up and move to California.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you too! What a beautiful shot of the city! Too bad those two big buildings are in there, lol. LOVE those mountains!
ReplyDeleteWe also had a beautiful, sunny, blue sky day with wonderful views of the mountains......with snow on the ground and temps in the teens. Not a good day for a parade here, but a beautiful day anyway.
ReplyDeleteWith a view like this- I would spring out of bed every morning-beautiful. Enjoy your golden day. xo
ReplyDeleteWishing you a brighter and all the best of 2011 too! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome view from you back yard, Joanna. So glad the weather cleared for your New Year celebrations. Each day is different here and we enjoy the varied weather conditions thank goodness. Our New Years day was ice storm. Today is sunny. Go figure. Hugs to you and best wishes for a wonderful 2011.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous view and beautiful weather. I love days like that!!
ReplyDeleteI can feel the warm sunshine from here!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I never knew how captivating the backdrop in California could be in the winter!

Wow. Can I come vacation at your place during January and February? Looks so amazingly serene.
ReplyDeleteSouthern California! Oh how I miss it!! Love your picture! Some of my family always go to the Rose Parade every year!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful JJ. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you, Joanna. It was a gorgeous day for us in Hawaii as well. I'm glad the tradewinds blew the smoke from the fireworks away.
ReplyDeleteWhat a view! It's still very cold in Seattle, but the sun is shining! I'm still amazed by your view, and can think of nothing else to say!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful veiw! Since it warmed up to 8 degree's today and it was not snowing, nor was it gray and overcast but instead sunny, it has put a smile on my face too.
ReplyDeleteI hope that 2011 brings you much joy, love, peace, hope, adventure, fun and lots and lots of laughter. Bless you dear woman. XX
It rained here on New Year's Day. But it beats all the snow we've been getting, and I can't do much right now anyway, so I didn't mind.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, my wonderful friend! Thank you for being such a great bloggy buddy.
ReplyDeletegreat view of snow where it belongs - on mountains
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog. Great stuff here! Our new year's day included snow on the mountains in Phoenix, AZ!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Joanna!! I have missed you sooooo much!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture!! I was able to drive my car home today. We received at least 13 inches of snow last week and my car has been stuck in town but it's home now...again...
Hope this is a wonderful year for you and yours!!
Hugs and love!!
Wow!! I just checked and I'm still in your blogroll!! I am so, very thankful and honored. You wouldn't believe how many people removed me in my absence....
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
I love you!!
My best wishes to you and your family in 2011!
ReplyDeleteI think it has been a tradition for blue skies and sunshine on the Rose Parade. I can't think of too many that were not like that!
Gorgeous shots!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! wishing you the best one yet.
ReplyDeleteone love.
Here's wishing that every single day is as gorgeous as your New Year's Day.
ReplyDeleteThat is one beautiful day :) My Dad and step Mom live in Yucaipa and have been telling me nonstop about the rain..I hope this is the end of it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful scene...
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Beautiful! I love Pasadena and hope that someday I can spend the holiday there and enjoy the parade up close ... Here in southeast Mich., it was balmy -- around 50 degrees on New Year's Eve, and almost as warm the next day. There was a big ball drop and rock concert in downtown Royal Oak, so we appreciated the break in the weather here. Crowds of people enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you!
Happy New Year to you and yours, may 2011 be a very prosperous year indeed.
ReplyDeleteThat image is out of this world. Having a view like this is dreamy to me, as Denmark is very flat. Being born at the foothill of high mountains, this image makes me very sentimental.;)
All I can say is "wow".;)
xoxo
That is one spectacular photograph!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family...!
Cheers,
Jo
What an absolutely beautiful view!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious view! I'm so glad the sun came out again for you. Happy New Year! Hope it's full of views like this one!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWoW, now that's what I'm talkin' about. Enjoy the beauty of the snow without trampin' through it tryin' to get the critters fed!
ReplyDeleteWe had Christmas here on the Ponderosa on New Years Day and I must say we had a blast!!!
Happy New Year sweetie and may it be filled with God's best blessings!!! :o)
Wishing you and yours a very beautiful 2011, Joanna.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hear that there was snow in the LA area recently! Just so you don't forget how winter is for the rest of the states....
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Snarky Sister...you are one of the gifts I thought about when the ball was dropping!
Valuable info. Lucky me I found your site by accident, I bookmarked it.
ReplyDeleteHello and Happy New Joanna! Gorgeous view! We also had beautiful weather the New Year's weekend. It was quite welcome after a couple of weeks of extremely cold weather (for Florida)!
