Wet. Very Wet

Feeling really lucky to have my Mom's rain boots this week.  She wore them for years whenever it was wet out to walk her sweet dog, Noah.  The dog lives with my baby sister now and the boots were parked at my back door just waiting for the rain.

The first time it rained after mom passed away was in about April and I just couldn't bring myself to put them on.

But this rain-soaked Friday morning in December seemed like a good time to take a short walk between downpours and soak up a little of Mom's love.  I can't fill her shoes but her boots are pretty darn comfy.

 How's your Sunday?

  2. I know what you mean: for awhile after my mom died I couldn't wear a jacket of hers that I inherited. Now it's one of my favorites. I love your pretty boots, filled with love and keeping your feet dry.

  7. I have a coat from my mom. I had a hard time wearing it first, but as you said it is a comfort later.

  9. Hi JJ! Nice to reconnect. Thanks for stopping by my blog. As Tom said, that last line is just loely. And I love Maui. My Sis has a condo in Puamana. I need to get back there soon. Starting to forget the humid, salty air.

    Thanks again.

  13. Aw... This is wonderful, Joanne. I'm up in the Santa Ynez Valley and the rain just started and is headed your way. Keep those boots handy, and have a Merry, a Happy, and a Ho, Ho, Ho! :)

  14. For years I wore my mother's coat. I also have her green china tea pot and whenever I drink tea, it's as though she's there with me. I think our things get infused with some of our energy so it's not unusual that they offer us comfort.

  17. I know what it is to wear the clothes of a loved one passed on. 4 years ago Dec. 13, we lost my mother-in-law. I wear many of her things; coat, pants, boots, sweaters. They keep me warm, and I imagine her hugs keeping me safe. When I wear those things, part of her is still with me.
When you wear your mother's boots, isn't it a soothing thing, slipping them onto your feet?
My heart is with you on this one Joanna.
