Finding my blogging groove seems to have escaped me of late. It's not that I'm not out there reading your blogs, because I am, it's just that I'm short on leaving meaningful comments and even shorter on blog topics to write about myself. And I know why....
Yes, life is beyond busy right now but it's not really about the time. It's more about feeling the need to edit myself these days so as not to invade other's privacy, break confidentiality or just plain tick people off by writing about what's on my mind.
Nothing is life shattering or tragic by any stretch of the imagination-- It's just that even though I'm smack in the middle of drama, drama, drama, the "drama-o-rama" isn't necessarily my story to tell and it's leaves me in a bit of a "blogless" state of mind with nothing but drivel left to write about. (Yawn.)
The last time this happened I announced I was taking a blog break to find my mojo again. Of course that meant that within minutes of publishing that particular post, I immediately thought of countless things to write about and my blog break lasted less than a few days. Go figure.
So I'm going to try that again, this time spending a week back home in Ohio visiting family, and officially say to all of you, my dear blog friends, that I'm taking a break from blogging but hope to be back soon-- With more than drivel to write about.
Until then.....

Hope you have many adventures to write about when you get back.
ReplyDeleteI did this, took 2 wks off, earlier this month.
ReplyDeleteI did come back refreshed..
Good luck!
Hope you have a good vacation.
ReplyDeleteI understand the need for a break. I haven't exactly been able to get as much blogging in as I'd like either. On my end, I seem to be running out of time due to the fact that my life has become crazy busy.
Hope you have some fun tales to tell about your adventures when you get back.
Have a great trip...see you when you return!
ReplyDeleteLucky you, Joanna, to be able to travel to visit friends and family. I wish you a joyful trip, filled with fun and happiness.
ReplyDeleteJoanna, have a wonderful time in Ohio, it is probably just what you need to do. Getting away from it all,
ReplyDeleteenjoy your family time. will be here whenever you get back. hugs dear friend.
I know all too well the frustration of having to self edit some of what you know would make a great blog post! Hope you have a lovely visit with your family hon, and look forward to seeing you back in blogland soon! (x)
ReplyDeleteI recognize these sentiments completely. In fact, I feel an onset of such a break too, as in contrary to you, my life finally lacks drama and everything is so sugar sweet, that my mind has gone docile and I have nothing substantial to write about.;)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your stay with your family and see you when you get back.;) Inspiration to write comes usually when we least expect it.;))
xoxo
Enjoy time with your family, JJ. And keep a small notebook or steno sized pad nearby for when you get ideas to blog about in the future. xo
ReplyDeleteSpring and early summer have always been slow blogging times for me, both in writing and commenting. I just try to remember that the blog is here to serve me, not the other way around. Go have a fun trip!
ReplyDeleteI struggled the same way the past couple of months. I think my brain was so consumed with other things...plus I find sometimes when I feel pressure to find something to write about, it just doesn't flow the same.
ReplyDeleteHope you have fun in Ohio. I hail from there, you know? My peeps still live there! Maybe my peeps know your peeps?
Best,
Tina
I hate to see you going through tough times, JJ. But funny thing is, I'm in the same place you are ... struggling to keep up the pace of the bloggy world while battling drama on the homefront AND dealing with the usual May Madness.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you write drivel at all, but again, I understand what you mean about respecting the privacy of others and maintaining a private life. Like Emily Dickinson wrote in her famous poem, sometimes we risk being "public like a frog." To me, having a blog readership shouldn't mean having to hurt your family (or your own reputation down the road).
So JJ, take the time off from blogging -- and we'll be here when you come back. Rest up, and enjoy your time away (drama or no drama)!
JJ, I meant to add. I always tell my writing students (the ones who blog) that not finding time to blog 24/7 is a GOOD sign. It means you have a real life! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a safe trip. I hope you experience only good things!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are OK. I was going to email you today and see if you were still around! I know what you mean about feeling like all you have to offer is drivel. I've felt that way a while and I'm not even in your class of blogging! You are my hero blogger!! So I'll be waiting! And I'm sure it'll be good even if it is what YOU consider drivel.
ReplyDeleteI used to blog almost daily and found that my life began to revolve around the post, looking for blog fodder and beginning to write my life as if I were an observer of it! So I pulled back and found it much easier to deal with by letting them erupt more naturally. But after a few days I begin to get antsy. See you when you get back, sooner or later! :-)
ReplyDeleteenjoy your break JJ...and time with family...you will find that mojo...it was so good to see you today...see you soon...
ReplyDeleteHello Joanna,
ReplyDeleteThere have been a few times where I came very close to not blogging anymore but had a lot of suggestions to just take a break instead. Works wonders. From reading your blog, I know how much you like to spend time with your family so this break will be good for you.
Have fun and be safe! I look forward to your return.
Hugs,
Tracy
I am with you on this one!!! Have a lovely trip.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel. Sometimes you just need some time away from writing. I hope you'll be back soon!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip!
I've missed reading what's on your mind lately. Hope you get your mojo back and hope the drama leaves soon. Have a fabulous trip and visit with your family!!
ReplyDeleteI totally get it. I think I'm taking a summer blog break, especially in June because we'll be traveling a lot.
ReplyDeleteFair enough! Have a great trip--sometimes it's essential to unplug, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Blog Break, Joanna. It's true that my life has been rather wrapped around my blog lately. I've been experimenting to see how long I can post everyday. Every time I think I'll stop, some relative or friend will mention reading my blog and back I go. I'm going to have to take a break someday soon though.
ReplyDeleteI blog to escape the drama.
ReplyDeleteWell don't over think your blog break and relax, lighten up, kick it back. Oh and don't eat those tacos while driving. see ya.
Have a good time! We all need a little bit of a break now and then. Enjoy! xo
ReplyDeleteGood grief,Joanna, I certainly know what you're talking about. And I understand. I have been gone for months and am trying to get back, too.
ReplyDeleteWith me,if I begin to feel the least bit depressed about anything, the first thing to get sapped is my creative energy. And it's a shame, since using it makes me feel so much better and like I accomplished something.
I'm glad you're coming back!
i hear you my friend. I hear you loud and clear.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the blog break!
ReplyDeleteI too have times when blog fodder is scarse.
we'll miss you Joanna, but have a great blog break.
ReplyDeleteHave Fun with your blog break..This may be exactly what I need..
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
shug
I totally understand, Joanna! I'm there too. I have so much to say but then again, nothing...if that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear about how big the baby has gotten and all the fun you'll have with the family. Have a safe trip!
Enjoy the break. I haven't blogged for sooooo long - now that I'm back home and leading an ordinary life I just don't know what to write about!
ReplyDeleteHave days full of fun in Ohio ! Yes blogging cannot happen for infinite days , there has to be a comma in between . Like you and many other bloggers I have too felt the need to take a short break from blogging world and this really helps because I'm when you'll be back you will be gleaming with new thoughts and a different perspective.

ReplyDeletehave a great break. we all need one every now and then without reason or excuses :)
I can so relate! The drama with my family has been off the charts lately. It has sucked the joy out of blogging for sure. Hope you find your blogging mojo again soon.

ReplyDeleteI took a few months off once, as you know....
ReplyDeleteI care about your being happy and want the best best best for you! Cuz you are awesome, and you deserve it!
I totally understsand the need. Take your time. We'll all be here upon your return.

Enjoy your break Joanna and come back with a fresh mind!
ReplyDeleteAlways here to read you when you do blog, Joanna. Breaks are very important. I do 90 days a year every year in the fall.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Casey
I've taken lots of blogging breaks since starting my first blog in 2004. I always come back refreshed and ready to blog some more. Real life happens, and I hope you have a great time away. I'll be glad to see your next post.
ReplyDeleteHaste ye back, JJ!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean. I have taken a few breaks myself. By all means Joanna, relax and recharge. Enjoy that trip
ReplyDeleteYa know..you put it out there just right hon. I am soooooo with you. I feel like so much of what is happening in my life...another drama rama...is stuff I can't put here on the blogs..mine or otherwise. I have been overwhelmed with "Stuff" and can't seem to motivate myself to get anywhere on my blog. Thank you hon for being upfront and honest..I love that!
ReplyDeleteOf course I will be here when you return..with bells on. Hopefully I will have found my groove too!
Hugs and love, Sarah
I'll leave the game piece out for you when you return. Come back relaxed.
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to be a clown to play.
I put your blog into play.
Come over and try the game.
i didn't ask for this
Whenever I announce a break, I always feel pulled back. This time I didn't announce it, and I stayed away for a bit to collect myself. It helped.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed every moment with your family. It is a chance to appreciate and see how important is to spend some time getting back to the roots.
ReplyDeleteSame! I think we're all feelin the same thing lately, lol.
