That Moment...

Have you ever had that moment when you took a shortcut through the alley of restaurant you've always wanted to try... only to wish you'd taken the long way around?

That happened to me today on my way for some Indian food.

Cilantro drying in the back alley parking lot.

And to think the front of the restaurant looked so nice.  Sigh, I won't be eating Indian food again for what will probably be forever.

How's your day going?

  1. Oh Dear!

I know I've seen bean sprouts delivered in boxes sitting on the floor outside of a Japanese fast food place. It was very strange looking and you're right, not sanitary.

  2. (shudder) thinking about the passing dogs who might want to add their own little fragrance to the cilantro. :-)

  3. Funny! But I avoid anyplace that offers "all you can eat," figuring it can't be very good if they're trying to shovel it into you.

  4. mmmm....yuck. I hate things like that. At least you saw it before you ate there. I hate when I eat at a restaurant only to see their nearly failed health inspection paper as I walk out the door.

  5. Hey at least they placed it on a cloth or something instead of the ground. What I find really interesting is it appears to be taking up the handicap parking space. That would be illegal - right?

  6. Ick. Nothing like a little city grit and fumes to flavor the greens!

  8. Yeah, I can see why that heap of dead cilantro would give you the willies. Bummer -- looks like it would have been tasty. Maybe not sanitary but tasty!

  10. To me, cilantro is vile, anyway. I suspect you'll take an extended walk around most restaurants from here on in. ;)

  11. I'm glad you took the shortcut, it's an adventure. You never know what you'll find. Happy Spring!

  12. I think it's best not to know what's going on at most restaurants. :)

  13. I guess I'm in the minority here, but I wouldn't care. I sort of expect that most foods in restaurants have at least a little bit of a shady past that it's best not to explore :-)
