We have an semi-annual date with the pest control man.

But I hear you on the little ones. When I was living in British Columbia, Canada, I had those teensy weensy ants EVERYWHERE for a time. They were coming up through the carpet, of all things--and like you, I noticed them especially in the bedroom. I'd vacuum, all would be clear, and two seconds later, they'd be back. Another date with pest control, and they were taken care of.

In both instances, it had nothing to do with food being left out. In PA, it's simply temperature. In BC? Who knows. But those itty bitty ones, that appear to be similar if not the same to your bedroom ants, were frustrating, for the reasons you've described so well in this post.Lynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18047395022515323715noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3211916946754614168.post-28264898350364972602010-07-26T02:56:01.343-07:002010-07-26T02:56:01.343-07:00How awful for you. You kill the ants, so they don't return to the nest, so the queen sends more ants. Finding the nest is critical ... or baiting for it, so the ants take it back to the nest. And, forget the baits you get at the store ... we tried those and the ants MADE a nest out of one of them (I am NOT kidding). Call Alpha Ecological or a 'safe' bug control place like that and let them take care of them! Have you considered checking the outside of the house near the foundation to see if they are getting into a crack there and then climbing up through your walls. Just a thought. The other thing you can do, although it might be a bit difficult in the closet, is to lay down a line of dawn dishwashing liquid. They won't cross it. The only problem there is you have to keep it fresh. Once it dries, they just crawl over.

This leads to two quick anecdotes. When we lived in southern California we had a wall behind our washer and dryer that was covered with grand daddy long legs. I kept the numbers in check, but I left them there to eat the ants. Well, one day I woke up and the wall was clean. And we had a nice little invasion of ants coming through the kitchen door. I didn't know whether to cry or scream.

In northern California I would give my dog a bath on our small back patio. Well, one day she wouldn't hold still to get rinsed and I just figured she was tired of the bath. Not her favorite thing. So I told her to hold still. Then I felt this very light and weird sensation of something crawling on my leg. I look down and I have a bunch of ants climbing up my leg. (I almost literally had ants in my panties. Yuck!) So I rinsed them off with the hose and looked at Cassie and sure enough she had ants on her. We had drowned out a nest. So I got her in and finished the bath inside.

Well, I wish you luck getting rid of the persistant little boos.VM Sehy Photographyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03832671940615894037noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3211916946754614168.post-32052617345679118402010-07-21T19:47:09.222-07:002010-07-21T19:47:09.222-07:00I had a go around with a family of ants this year ...I had a go around with a family of ants this year and like you I could not find out where they came from except maybe up the side of the house and in somewhere. I got some of those little black ant houses that you hide around and they go in and die. They definitely DO WORK. Can't remember the name but they are in the grocery store with those type items. The ones I had outside every year in my driveway had decided to climb the carport and go some where so I finally called the sprayer man and had him declare war on the ants. That worked also.Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04474339462986922659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3211916946754614168.post-35292873026492831142010-07-21T16:45:06.407-07:002010-07-21T16:45:06.407-07:00I hear this product terro works great for ants.
